We are a community of families, educators, earth warriors, and outdoor enthusiasts that aims to nurture children’s sense of curiosity, joy, awe and wonder.
We name our journey as Wildschooling drawing inspiration from different alternative education models of homeschooling, unschooling, forest schooling, and gentle parenting, but more flexible and open; taking nature as our primary platform for knowledge, reflection, and discovery.
It is a movement founded by Nicolette Sowder of Wilder Child, adapted and localized by Weekend Wild Child here in the Philippines.
Our programme is not locked into a single curriculum. Instead, it offers knowledge and experiences emerging from the changing seasons of nature. We use Phenology as our lens in selecting camp locations and tailor-fitting activities on the ground that best fit each month and/or season.
Our goal is to keep encouraging the creativity, wonder, and joy that children naturally express. For Weekend Wild Child that means:
We are a classroom without walls. We are out of the chair, out of our shell, and out into our community. For Weekend Wild Child that means:
We honor the co-existence of human and nature. For Weekend Wild Child that means:
We offer an inspirational opportunity for families and individuals to develop and achieve a strong connection with the natural world through multi-sensorial learning experiences in our local rainforests, marine protected areas, nature farms, and cultural communities.
