Little Farmer Experience

“It’s time to return to childhood, to simplicity, to running and climbing and laughing in the sunshine, to experience happiness instead of being trained for a lifetime of happiness. It is time to let children be children again.”
~ L.R. Knost

Our meet up at the farm last Saturday was the longest playdate so far since we started Tsikiting Bukid in October. We usually end the session at 11:30am but it seems like tsikitings wouldn’t want to let go of the play and their friends even at 1:00pm! The running, laughters, going into new trails and climbing the Durian tree – they can do this all day given the opportunity.

And so we let the children play, we tried to incorporate their gardening tasks, but they surely did it quickly, so they can go back to play. It was fine, they needed more of it that day. But hey, they still helped:

🪱gather the earthworm pee, mix it with water and sprinkle around our plants. Natural soil and plant fertilizer for the win!

🎃 transplant the squash seedlings from the nursery to the plots in the garden

🥤harvested fresh lemongrass and made it into a juice. We sniffed it to know if it’s really a lemongrass and not mistaken by citronella.

🌮 prepare the mango-tomato salsa for our tacos! The cilantro (sawtooth variety) is prickly to T. Laila picked up while the lemons were harvested by the kids. Yes, real taco ingredients straight from the garden!

🎖Eg (one of the tsikitings) also got his first badge- an earthworm. Andddd………

🚀One family drove all the way from La Union to @kaifarmsph 🙌🏽 We love the parents here at Tsikiting Bukid, iba ang dedication ng bawat magulang! Mabuhay po kayo! Saludo!

This Saturday (Dec.10) will be the last Tsikiting Bukid this year, but we’ll still see each other again at the Advent Gathering at the Farm to conclude the year meaningfully.

If you want to join us on either one or both Saturdays, send us a message. We’d be happy to have you at the farm.
